$2 a day: day five

Posted by STEVEmcfly on January 18, 2008

We’ll it’s Friday and things seem to be coming together. I feel really good today. I got plenty of rest last night and school wasn’t much of a hassle. I don’t feel weak or hungry at all right now, everything feels really good.

I’ve taken my meal plan on the road tonight. I’m back in my hometown to watch a basketball game, one of my good friends is playing, and I thought about how to go about taking the food on the go. I decided to bring back a packet of ramen (I’ve already had one today, but I have 36 total so I’ll have 6 days where I eat two, assuming I eat them all) to eat before the game and a bowl of spaghetti to rock after the game. The spaghetti is keeping well and I am enjoying it still. I can see where people would get sick of it after eating it in mass quantities but I plan on finishing the bowl in the next few days (not sure when) and then cheffing up either the hamburger helper mix or the rice and cream of mushroom soup, mostly for the balance of these more main-course type meals.

Now, I’m going to have to make an adjustment as far as the oatmeal and bananas goes. I think I’m going to drop the meal altogether and let it waste. I’m not a big fan of the meal anyway, and of the 3 bananas I purchased to start one of them I had to ditch because it turned brown. I’d literally have to buy the bananas more like 1 or 2 at a time if I wanted to use half of it for the bowl of oatmeal, and it seems like a hassle. This is going to give me $2.76 (I estimated $0.23 by 12 more bananas) extra to spend.

As far as what to spend it on I’ve had a few ideas. I’ve thought about buying another can of Cream of Mushroom soup because I think I’ll need it for all the rice. I also thought about buying a can of beans and package of tortillas to go with the Cream of Mushroom soup and Rice to make burritos (I’ve made them before and I am a big fan). Another thought that crossed my mind was buying an extra loaf of bread and buying the $1.00 bologna to make sandwhiches. Jesse seems to really enjoy them and I saw my roommate fixing a cold meat sandwhich today which looked pretty good.

I really like how things are going, and like I’ve said before I’m keeping really active. We had a city league basketball game last night and I already feel slimmer running up and down the court, and it’s truely a good feeling.

Day 5

Posted by JUICEmcfly on January 18, 2008

I’m feeling much better today. I have no idea what caused my illness at work last night, but thankfully it’s over and done with. I’m working another double today, which hasn’t put me in the best mood. I feel great though and I slept wonderfully last night. When I woke up this morning I made, once again, a pancake. I neglected to use peanut butter again; I just wasn’t feeling it. After my first shift I made a heaping plate of spaghetti with two slices of buttered bread (Steve wasn’t messing around when he said the spaghetti would last a long time). I’m moderately hungry right now and intend on eating a bologna sandwich before I work in an hour. I didn’t have the time to get in the gym yesterday or today; I will try to make up lost time this weekend.

Tonight I plan on making a tuna sandwich and possibly eating some more spaghetti. Oatmeal is a solid option as well because I didn’t have any for breakfast. Two of the three should suffice, and should bring the night to an end. I will try get to bed before midnight again, as I have all week, because I work a double again tomorrow. At this point I’m getting more burned out on work than I am this meal plan! I’m still amazed at how well I can eat on a mere $2 a day.

Well, 5:00 is coming too soon, so it’s back to the grind for Juice. Some new and exciting posts are in the works – please stay tuned! Thanks as always!
