I have never thought to myself that a peanut butter and applesauce sandwich sounded good, until last night. Not only am I eating semi-healthy, I’m multi-taskin! I will always try to cut corners where I can. Something I have noticed in the first 4 days is how I have NOT craved soda. Maybe I’m not the caffeine addict I once thought. Whatever the case my be, yesterday was by far the best in the experiment. I felt well rested and full all day. Today has been a much different story though.
Today I worked a double (I work at a local restaurant for those who didn’t know) so I didn’t have much time to eat. I was unbearably hungry during my second shift, and on top of that I had dizzy spells and other symptoms of an anxiety attack. These symptoms could have been caused due to lack of nourishment and/or dehydration (I admit I didn’t drink a lot of water today). I will make sure I do a better job of intaking plenty of calories and drinking enough water in the future.
I’m still feeling a little under the weather so I wanted to make this blog short and sweet. Please feel free to leave any comments on how Steve and I can make our blog more enjoyable for YOU. We would be nowhere without you the reader. Thanks again and enjoy!

Classes are really starting to pick up. I had my first lectures today in Philosophy of Religion and Philosophy of Mind, both of which were stimulating, this semester is going to be a lot of work but also a lot of fun for me intellectually.
My eating pattern today was unusual. I woke up late and had my first meal just before my first class at 9:35 am (a cinnamon raisin swirl bagel), and after it got over at 10:50 I had a peanut butter sandwhich before I worked out, and a tuna sandwhich after which wasn’t until about 12:30 pm. So the big part of that “meal” from the first meal I had was 3 1/2 – 4 hours apart. After this I had a class at 2pm which got over at 3:15 but it ran late and I was supposed to meet my dad at HyVee around 3:30. I ran home real quick and snagged my big bowl of spaghetti and ate some of it in the car before and after I met with my dad. My meals have just been irregularly timed and spread out today, which has led to a small increase in my hunger (and I haven’t taken down as much water as I’ve wanted today).
As school picks up life will be fairly busy, but it’ll be good to get this first week done tomorrow afternoon. I still am staying pretty active. Last night’s reffereeing for the city basketball league gave me a solid sweat and workout, my workout today felt good and I still feel like I’m making gains, and tonight again we have our own city league basketball team’s game. With being this active combined with the mealplan I’ll be excited to step on the scale come Monday morning and see how things have turned out.
Tomorrow I still plan on heading home for a high school basketball game (about 35 minutes away) and I’ll pack a few meals with me because I’ll probably be gone for something around 4-5 hours. Should be a good time and an interesting test of how the meal plan can travel on the fly.

Today I observed something about my hunger. I’ve realized that I’m more hungry in the 5-10 minutes directly after I eat than I am 2-3 hours after. After the 3 hour mark I’m getting hungry for sure, the most I’ve gone without eating is about 3 and 1/2 hours and I was fairly hungry at that point. What I’m trying to say is that I think what I’m noticing only supports the notion that you would eat less if you slowed down when you are eating. I hear people say you won’t eat as much as long as you chew every bite, which I can believe. It’s like it takes me a few minutes before my stomach realizes I have food it it that’s sufficient and it stops being a concern.
The spaghetti appears to be a never ending bowl. For one of my meals today I had the spaghetti and I fried a piece of bread, basically just buttering both sides and putting it in a skillet, browning both sides of the bread. This tastes unbelievable, I can’t express how much flavor this adds. I took a few pics of the never ending bowl and my meal with the piece of fried bread.
Overall I already feel like I’ve dropped some weight. I haven’t stepped on the scale again yet, and even if I haven’t dropped weight, the feeling is good either way. I would guess though that I do in fact weigh less. Also I would say I’ve noticed a shrinking in my stomach size just because I’m not as hungry as I have been on the previous days. I feel very content with what I’m eating and everything seems to be going as planned.
The only thing I’m struggling with so far is I’m just not a huge fan of oatmeal. I never have been, I added it in because it’s really too cheap not to and I can get a serving of fruit with it as well, but I’m not a huge fan. It’s okay, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just kinda blah. Everything else I’ve been cooking I really enjoy eating. The pancakes always taste delicious, I love the egg sandwhiches, the tuna sandwhiches are good because I get to use the light mayo, the spaghetti tastes awesome (especially with that fried bread), but the oatmeal is the one thing I seem to be indifferent about.
Also, I haven’t tried my crystal lite substitute yet, which means I’ve drank nothing but water over the past few days. I thought this would be more of a problem but it really hasn’t been. I feel good, and of course I have the urge to drink soda but I’m not getting any headaches from caffeine or anything. Generally, the feeling is good, and I think everything seems to be going to plan. Check out the pics!
